Avian Influenza Rapid Response Training

Welcome to the training for Avian Influenza Rapid Response Teams. This 3-day course was designed for rapid responders who will work at the local or provincial level to respond immediately to cases or small clusters of illness that might be a dangerous strain of influenza. The Rapid Response Training modules were developed in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC) in Thailand, Thailand Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Module 1  Team Composition and Standard of Conduct 

This module focuses on the three aspects of team organization and standards of conduct for outbreak investigations. (372 KB)

Module 2   The ABCs of Influenza and Pandemic  

Third module aims to provide an academic introduction to seasonal and pandemic influenza. (1.48 MB)

Module 3  Control of Highly pathogenic AI in Poultry 

This module provides general information about avian influenza among poultry, and provides guidance in working with veterinary or agriculture professionals.  (7.56 MB)

Module 4  Case Management of Suspected Human Influenza Infection

This module discusses case management of suspect human avian influenza H5N1 infection. It is divided into three parts:

Module 5  Laboratory Diagnosis, Specimen Collection and Biosafety Issues

Module 6  Hospital Infection Control and Personal Protective Equipment

This module highlights the importance of infection control and proper use of personal protective equipment in preventing spread of infectious diseases. (4.8 MB)
