WHO Collaborating Centres in Thailand

WHO CollaboratingCentres form part of an inter-institutional collaborative network established by WHO in support of its programmes at the country, intercountry, regional, interregional or global levels, as appropriate.  In line with the WHO policy and strategy of technical cooperation, a WHO CollaboratingCentre must also participate in the strengthening of country resources, in terms of information, services, research and training, in support of national health development.  WHO Collaborating Centres are designated for an initial period of four years.

In 2007, there are 33 WHO Collaborating Centres, comprising a variety of technical areas, active in Thailand.  For a listing of these centres, including areas of expertise and contact information, please see  List of Centres.  Following the recent end of a global moratorium on the establishment and re-designation of collaborating centres, WHO Thailand is considering applications for more collaborating centres.  Recommendations will be based upon a review of WHO priority areas aligned with institutional capacities, to come up with a more focused and responsive collaborative network.
